I have this great idea….that no one will adopt.
When a vegan complains about other vegans you shouldn’t reblog complaining about “policing others’ life styles” because there is a definition to the word ‘vegan’ so people CAN be doing it wrong.
When a vegan complains about non-vegans on their own tumblr you shouldn’t reblog complaining about “policing others’ life styles” because the purpose of the blog post is more than likely to vent about things to a community of like-minded people. Sometimes you need to preach to the choir so you can get things off your chest.
Every minority and niche has this problem. There is the way you talk around people that share your same views; and there is the way you talk around people that you know aren’t part of your group or cause. It’s like knowing that in a public setting you don’t go around cursing up a storm. But if I’m sitting at home with some friends and saying “fuck” every other word, then you aren’t allowed to come up to my window and say “stop it! my delicate virgin ears can’t handle such profanity!”
STOP THAT!!
YOU’RE DOING IT WRONGAmen to that
I’m so vegan I’m going to start calling my partner agave.

Hi, I’m Dani. I’ve been vegan for coming up 15 years, I run marathons and 1/2 marathons, wake up at the crack of dawn and have tonnes of energy! I love cooking, gardening and generally getting things done :)

I was watching Girls last night and I noticed a scene that irked me. After my girlfriend got a chance to watch it I was happy to know it annoyed her as much as it did me and I wasn’t alone on this. I think what upset me the most is that the scene was pretty much a throw away scene. They could’ve filled this scene with any dialogue they wanted, but they went with this:
Eric: Is it okay that I took you to a pizza place?
Hannah: Yeah. I love pizza. I love pepperoni, which I haven’t eaten in ages because I was a vegetarian until two months ago.
Eric: What? Why? What happened?
Hannah: …Basically, I was dating this guy…and I went over to his house one day and I was starving and he had nothing to eat. Just nothing. Except for some raw meat which his uncle had caught, killed, and sent him in the mail. So my options were to eat that or go out and get some food, and I was sure that if I went out and came back he, like, wouldn’t answer the buzzer or he would’ve just disappeared. So, uhh, he cooked it; I ate it. And I swear to you I felt myself growing stronger with every bite.
Eric: Yeah, it’s protein. Your body needed protein.
Hannah: It was like the roses came back to my cheeks. Seriously. And I had this revelation which was, like, I should be eating meat and I should not be dating this person.
As my girlfriend pointed out, if this conversation was about her being vegan (which seems to me something you’d actually bring up on a date) then people would be screaming that it’s vegan propaganda.
Side note: I enjoy the show, but that doesn’t mean I can’t complain to the people that I think would understand my complaint. sigh
I’m Kat, vegetarian since I was 6 (I was early to catch on to this cruelty free thing haha!) and vegan for the past 6 months. I love cooking and have a vegan blog at veganhaven where I post all my recipes!
As a result of going vegan…I have lost 80 pounds and have more energy than I have ever had in my entire life. I feel vital, healthy and strong.
P.S. Vegan cookies are the best!
Nicole, or Nyk. 18. Vegetarian since 2008, vegan since last July. This is me in my natural habitat, sort of… Moreso the apron than the bathroom! Haha I love cooking, singing, running, martial arts, kettlebells, art, and school. I’m friendly, so come say hi! :D
Thanks to Ryan we officially know what vegan looks like. Haha.
Ryan Fogarty. I’ve been vegan for a year and a half now and was vegetarian for several months before that. Once I realized the hypocrisy of loving animals and not being vegan, I took up the vegan lifestyle.
Hi, I’m Elvira(:
I recently became vegan a month ago after being a vegetarian for two and a half years. After I realized that vegetarianism wasn’t helping animals at all, I completely cut off dairy, eggs, and animal tested products.
I became vegan because I really do love all animals, and even though it’s only been a month I know that I will never go back to contributing to cruelty ^_^
I’d like to meet more tumblr vegans because even though I know a few already, I still get hate on my blog for my lifestyle choice and I’d like to know that there are more people who support the way I live. (:
By the way, I follow back all vegans if I can tell that they’re vegan by looking at their blogs(:
My name is Nissi and I have been a vegan for a little under a year. Its a little difficult being West Indian (my family is Jamaican!) and vegan, where meat is a staple in all of our food…but being in NY means I get a lot of vegan options and a big network of supportive vegans! Being vegan is the best decision I have ever made! It gives me nothing but smiles! :D —- youngblackandvegan.tumblr.com
Hi, I’m Sarasvati!
I’ve been vegan for a little over a year. Before that I was raised since birth as a vegetarian. Once I realized drinking milk and eating cheese was still hurting my beloved cows I immediately gave it up. Wish I would have realized it sooner. Loving my life now. Hoping to move to a more vegan friendly community once I graduate college.
Cheers :]
